HSSM

  • November 2023
    • HSSM now supports custom posterior predictive plots and quantile probability plots, essential for a robust Bayesian workflow with Sequential Sampling Models.
    •  Invited to submit full proposal to Chan Zuckerberg Initiative Essential Open Source Software for Science (Cycle 6) Program.
    • Conference presentation on HSSM at the New England Research on Decision Making (NERD) conference at Harvard University.
    • As of this time, HSSM received 54 github stars with 5 unique contributors and > 200 downloads per month since release. The discussion board on github is active with over 30 separate user discussions at this point and > 100 git issues raised and resolved. The wider ecosystem of support packages LANfactory and ssms receive over 1500 downloads per month on pypi.
  • October 2023
    • Work on SSMJax begins, a GPU based forward sampler for sequential sampling models. 
  • September 2023
    • The ssm-simulator package, which forms the current forward simulation backend for HSSM, reaches beta status with release 0.4.3.

    • Presentation of HSSM at the Computational Cognitive Science 2023 conference in Oxford, England
  • July 2023
    • Alpha version of HSSM is released, with >700 github clones and >300 downloads in the first week alone. 
    • Presentation of HSSM at the Computational Psychiatry Conference 2023 in Dublin, Ireland
    • Presentation on HSSM in the context of the Carney Computational Modeling Workshop 2023, taught at the Carney Institute for Brain Science, Brown University.

  • November 2023
    • As of November 2023, the AutoRA open-source project reached 37,000 downloads on pypi, 24 stars on Github, and 16 code contributors. 
    • The first closed-loop behavioral study, involving automated model discovery and automated experimental design, has been conducted as a live demonstration of AutoRA at the CogSci Space Day at the University of Osnabrück.
  • October 2023
    • The Autonomous Empirical Research Group initiates a collaboration with researchers at Google Deepmind to pilot the first closed-loop automated discovery of reinforcement learning models.
    • The Autonomous Empirical Research Group releases equation-scraper: A tool for scraping equations from Wikipedia, used to derive priors over mathematical models for equation discovery algorithms.
    • Three conference articles involving AutoRA got accepted at the 2023 NeurIPS AI4Science workshop:

    • AutoRA receives professional software engineering support provided by the Virtual Institute of Scientific Software, focusing on the automated documentation of research processes implemented in AutoRA.
    • AutoRA receives 5,000 USD from the Schmidt Science Fellows for applying AutoRA to material discovery. Press release.

    • A project involving AutoRA receives 1,001,441 USD (Resources allocated to research at Brown: 361,441 USD) from the Human Networks and Data Science Infrastructure Grant of the National Science Foundation. 
    •  The Autonomous Empirical Research Group initiates a collaboration with researchers at Indiana University to pilot the first automated discovery of sequential sampling models with AutoRA.
    • The Autonomous Empirical Research Group releases equation-sampler 1.0.0: A tool for sampling mathematical equations, used for the dynamic benchmarking and training of equation discovery algorithms.
